Jessica Simpson has moved camp to Nashville, Tennessee to begin work on her debut country album, due sometime in 2008 via Columbia Nashville. Simpson declined to name songwriting collaborators, but said she will most definitely be involved in the creative process. “Writing is a release for me,” she says. “It’s a way for me to tell my story. That’s not to say I wouldn’t record a song that I didn’t write. It’s just that it has been a while since I have opened the book.” But why country, and why now? “I am a country girl,” she says. “I grew up in Texas, and country music was what I listened to. I always wanted to make a country album, but I wanted to wait until the time was right.” “I think there is a strength in female country artists,” Simpson adds, citing Martina McBride, Shania Twain, Faith Hill and Reba McEntire as some of her inspirations. Asked what has surprised her most since starting the follow-up to 2006’s “A Public Affair,” Simpson says, “Nashville is a very warm city. The people are friendly and kind. There is a sense of community, which thrives on music. There is no animosity … only respect for one another’s talent.” It’s unclear if Jessica will hit the road in support of the untitled country project, but she says, “Since the record is in the beginning stages, there hasn’t been much talk about a tour just yet.” | |

“Blonde Ambition” will be released on DVD on January 22nd 2008 according to online stores. Editor’s Note: Jessica Simpson (EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH) stars alongside Luke Wilson and Rachel Leigh Cook in this romantic comedy about a young woman who faces constant humiliation upon moving to bustling New York City from her native small town. Like a slapstick twist on the classic WORKING GIRL, the film follows Katie (Simpson), a clumsy girl who moves up the corporate ladder almost by accident. Once on the top, she meets an array of interesting characters, including ones played by heartthrob Wilson and comedian Andy Dick. Legendary musician Willie Nelson, Simpson’s costar from THE DUKES OF HAZZARD, makes a cameo appearance. Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria have designed a pair of UGG Boots for a charity auction. The actresses are among a host of celebrities who have come up with their own unique hand painted creations for the popular sheepskin boots. The stars were asked to use the word ‘hope’ as the inspiration behind their designs which will go under the hammer for UGG Australia’s Art and Sole sale. Jessica decorated her boots with butterflies and flowers while Eva opted to use hearts alongside her own signature. Penelope Cruz, John Travolta, Cindy Crawford, Minnie Driver, Miley Cyrus, Matthew McConaughey, Liv Tyler, Ellen DeGeneres, Ashton Kutcher, Ashlee Simpson, Kelly Ripa and Kelly Preston have also designed a pair of boots for the auction. The unique footwear will be available to buy until December 14 2007. All proceeds from the auction will be donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help terminally ill children. | |
